Citizens Canine

Life can be tough for a canine cineaste. Somehow, whenever dogs show up on the big screen, it is either in insipid outings like Air Bud and A Dog's Purpose or--worse!--such defamatory depictions as Plague Dogs and Cujo. Two paws down! I hated, hated, hated these movies! This is why it is so exciting to see, at long last, a serious auteur provide a nuanced portrayal of the greatness of four-legged furry fellows: Mr. Wes Anderson, who has previously dramatized both the human and vulpine worlds in such films as Moonrise Kingdom and Fantastic Mr. Fox, is now turning his camera upon a whole pack of courageous canines in the upcoming Isle of Dogs. Here's the trailer:

I can't wait to settle down with some pawpcorn at my local movie emporium, and revel in this masterpiece. And, yes, I do know that the Isle of Dogs is an actual place in London, and that if you say it out loud the title sounds like "I Love Dogs."
